INTRODUCING the JUBILEE LOGO

I am so excited to present our logo for Jubilee 2016, our big celebration of our faithful ministry of 50 years. The Jubilee team has approved our Jubilee logo at their recent meeting. I have been working to create this logo for several months. But this is a result of consistent prayers and cooperative work as a team.

Jubilee-logoRam’s Horn and Boat
The main body at the bottom (brown color) is a ram’s horn (shofar). The people of Israel blew the ram’s horn to declare the year of Jubilee. It was sounded when the Ark of the Covenant was returned to the camp and was regularly used as an instrument of praise in the temple.

It is also designed to symbolize a boat. The boat (or ship) was an ancient Christian symbol, signifying a vessel of salvation.

We remember the ark that saved Noah’s family during the Flood and Jesus protecting the boat of Peter and the apostles on the stormy Sea of Galilee.

Boat, Cross and Flame
The boat was also a great symbol during times when Christians needed to disguise the cross, since the ship’s mast forms a cross in many of its depictions. That’s why I decided to put the UMC logo on the boat. The UMC logo is used here to represent not only the cross and flames but also the mast and sails.

Reset, Renew, and Revive
These are the spirit of Jubilee. This year is a new momentum asking us to reset our vision and mission, renew our mind, spirit and revive our church and ministry for the new beginning.

This logo will be used for all the church publications, bulletins, invitation letters, banners, stained glass, and the website. If anyone needs this logo for church purposes, please contact me or the church office.
