Learn more about the impact of plastics on our oceans and the animals that live in them
According to the Ocean Society, plastic pollution is one of the greatest threats to ocean health worldwide. Each year some much plastic waste enters the ocean…enough to line every foot of coastline. This waste stream entering the ocean continues on an upward track and is expected to double in the next 10 years.
The Oceanic Society offers Seven Ways that we each can make a difference in reducing this damaging waste stream.
- Reduce You Use of Single-Use Plasics
- Recycle Properly
- Participate in (or Organize) a Beach or River Cleanup
- Support Bans
- Avoid Products Containing Microbeads
- Spread the Word
- Support Organizations Addressing Plastic Pollution
Even if you’ve been an avid recycler for years, take the extra step of cutting up 6-pact holders and the like – even with our best intentions our recycling efforts are not always achieved after leaving our hands.
