Lenten Carbon Fast 2020 ~ 5th Wednesday

Scrape rather than rinse your plates today. it saves water

Today’s action step of scrape not rinse, is a second step of reduction when it comes our cleaning habits with dishes. Our first, only running a fully loaded dishwasher, was our action step from March 3rd.

Scrape your dishes and let the dishwasher fulfill its purpose and recall that today’s efficient models use less than 5 gallons per wash. Compare that a study conducted by the University of Bonn in Germany showing on average 27 gallons of water consumed by hand washing 12 place settings.

Isaiah 60

17Instead of bronze I will bring gold, instead of iron I will bring silver;Instead of wood, bronze;instead of stones, iron.I will appoint peace your governor, and justice your ruler.18No longer shall violence be heard of in your land,or plunder and ruin within your borders. You shall call your walls “Salvation”and your gates “Praise.”19 No longer shall the sunbe your light by day,Nor shall the brightness of the moongive you light by night;Rather, the LORD will be your light forever, your God will be your glory.20No longer will your sun set,or your moon wane; For the LORD will be your light forever, and the days of your grieving will be over.21Your people will all be just;for all time they will possess the land; They are the shoot that I planted, the work of my hands, that I might be glorified.22The least one shall become a clan, the smallest, a mighty nation;I, the LORD, will swiftly accomplishthese things when the time comes.

Matthew 9

27 And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed [him], crying out, “Son of David, have pity on us!” 28When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they said to him. 29Then he touched their eyes and said, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.” 30And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” 31But they went out and spread word of him through all that land.32 As they were going out, a demoniac who could not speak was brought to him, 33and when the demon was driven out the mute person spoke. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the prince of demons.”

Psalm 146

Psalms 146

1Hallelujah!2Praise the LORD, my soul;I will praise the LORD all my life, sing praise to my God while I live.3Put no trust in princes,in children of Adam powerless to save.4Who breathing his last, returns to the earth;that day all his planning comes to nothing.5Blessed the one whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD, his God,6The maker of heaven and earth, the seas and all that is in them,Who keeps faith forever,7secures justice for the oppressed, who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free;8the LORD gives sight to the blind. The LORD raises up those who are bowed down;the LORD loves the righteous.9The LORD protects the resident alien, comes to the aid of the orphan and the widow, but thwarts the way of the wicked.10The LORD shall reign forever, your God, Zion, through all generations!Hallelujah!
