Lenten Carbon Fast 2020 ~ 5th Friday

Observe the beauty of the sunrise or sunset

Where I am at today there is a think overcast of clouds so observing the beauty of the sunrise, in my thinking of our action, was just not going to happen.

Consider that our view of a sunrise, and whether or not we can actually see that occur, is but one part of daybreak. The world outside is bustling with activity and the air is full of bird song and that’s the beauty I took in today.

What we hold as obstacles in our way of doing or “seeing” something in regards to the plans we’ve set are not necessarily that at all. Consider such obstacles are merely opportunities to dive deeper, experience life from a fresh perspective or even accomplish far more than imaginable from our original small plans.

If you’re looking to take this action step on a cloud-full just click here. Our theme photos for this past week have all been coming from this wealth of photos at Unsplash.

Ezekiel 33:10-16

Ezekiel 33

10As for you, son of man, speak to the house of Israel: You people say, “Our crimes and our sins weigh us down; we are rotting away because of them. How can we survive?” 11 Answer them: As I live—oracle of the Lord GOD—I swear I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! Why should you die, house of Israel?12As for you, son of man, say to your people: The justice of the just will not save them on the day they sin; the wickedness of the wicked will not bring about their downfall on the day they turn from their wickedness. No, the just cannot save their lives on the day they sin. 13Even though I say to the just that they shall surely live, if they, relying on their justice, do wrong, none of their just deeds shall be remembered; because of the wrong they have done, they shall die. 14And though I say to the wicked that they shall die, if they turn away from sin and do what is just and right— 15returning pledges, restoring stolen goods, walking by statutes that bring life, doing nothing wrong—they shall surely live; they shall not die. 16None of the sins they committed shall be remembered against them. If they do what is right and just, they shall surely live.

Revelation 11:15-19

Revelation 11

15Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet. There were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord and to his Anointed, and he will reign forever and ever.” 16The twenty-four elders who sat on their thrones before God prostrated themselves and worshiped God 17and said:“We give thanks to you, Lord God almighty, who are and who were. For you have assumed your great powerand have established your reign.18The nations raged, but your wrath has come, and the time for the dead to be judged, and to recompense your servants, the prophets, and the holy ones and those who fear your name, the small and the great alike, and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”19Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, and peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a violent hailstorm.

Psalm 130

Psalms 130

1A song of ascents.Out of the depths I call to you, LORD;2Lord, hear my cry!May your ears be attentiveto my cry for mercy.3If you, LORD, keep account of sins,Lord, who can stand?4But with you is forgivenessand so you are revered.5I wait for the LORD,my soul waitsand I hope for his word.6My soul looks for the Lordmore than sentinels for daybreak.More than sentinels for daybreak,7let Israel hope in the LORD,For with the LORD is mercy, with him is plenteous redemption,8And he will redeem Israelfrom all its sins.
